I have been interested in writing for many years and only since my work has taken second place to my social life did I decide to join a local writing group. I have been a member of Slough Writers since January 2008. I enjoy writing poetry and short stories in the main, but since joining the group I am now trying my hand at play writing.

Successes

My first published piece of writing was an article in a magazine (Astronomy Now) in 1998 for which I was paid £50 and gave me the spur to do more. I subscribed to Writing Magazine and won first prize in their short story competition (Science Fiction category) and a third prize for the Spine Chiller category the following year. I have been short listed for other story and poetry competitions.

Interests

Astronomy – I possess two telescopes: a small refractor and an 8inch Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector. Walking, Reading, Cricket (still playing occasionally), Liverpool FC (for the last 52 years – supporting not playing!).

Recently signed up to www.ladderwriters.com which has provided even more motivation for my writing.
